Brûlée Cups by Feve Artisan Chocolatier

Okay, these are some truly elevated nut butter cups!

I was gifted this lovely box by @fevechocolates of their new Brûlée Cups but my review is totally my own. I actually think they’ve done a really nice job on these! The unique thing about these cups is the addition of creme brûlée crackle into the nut butter fillings themselves, which gives a delightful crunch to the cups.

The box has a mix of 3 different nut butters (almond, peanut and hazelnut) with the almond and hazelnut being surrounded by dark chocolate in contrast with the milk chocolate of the peanut butter cup.

The shells are nice and thin, and the nut butters are tender and not too firm. The great thing about these cups are the lovely textural crunch, but my favorite is the attention paid to sweetness levels. Despite brûlée being toasted sugar, these cups are not even close to being overly sweet. I hate that most American sweets and confections are cloyingly sweet, and maybe someone at Feve hates that too! They are just exactly sweet enough, but the cups really showcase the natural flavor of the nuts. I wonder if the toasted crispy brûlée sugar is the only source of sweetness the fillings 🤔 They really are a more sophisticated nut butter cup.

If you grew up on the classic American PB cups in the orange wrapper but are looking for something more grown-up, these are giving “New Year New Buttercups” 😁
