Columbian 70% Dark by Cocoa Legato

This smooth and flavorful 70% dark from Colombia is not only expertly crafted from @cocoalegato but also features a unique pairing within the packaging- an indie song custom picked for the bar!

Founder and head Chocolate maker Aaron Lindstrom has years of experience in both Seattle’s chocolate and music scenes, and his new shop/factory/cafe/venue blends these two loves.

In the most creative use of packaging I’ve seen (picked for this week’s #tttt_packaging ) each bar’s tasting notes are cleverly described using musical notation, and each bar is paired with something for our sense of hearing: a song from an independent Seattle musician! A QR code inside the wrapper takes you to a page that introduces the artist and guides you through the pairing experience.

The chocolate itself is lovely and mild for a 70%. Deep base notes of fudgy chocolate support creamy nuttiness and gentle fruitiness. I ate half this bar in one sitting, and the mid-tempo funky pop of Katie Kuffel’s @katiekuffel song “Honey” (playing on this post) is indeed, a ‘sweet’ pairing (sorry not sorry 😆).

These bars are currently only available in-store in North Seattle, so if you’re in the area definitely stop by Cocoa Legato!
