Cori Warmi Vrae-99 (Nano-lot) by Chocolate Naive

Cori Warmi Vrae-99 (Nano-lot) by @chocolatenaive

This chocolate is made with a single variety cultivar native to Peru called VRAE-99 (“Ganzo”). More on that below!

Nose is incredible fruity and floral, like a bowl of flowers and fresh berries sprinkled with citrus zest.
Opening is super mild and creamy, like peaks of fresh whipped cream with hints of strawberries.
It morphs into the most gentle and pleasant tartness with slight hints of peanut butter & banana.

VRAE is an acronym naming rivers in the valley of central-south jungle of Peru where this cacao originates: Valley of Rivers Apurímac & Ene (River Mantaro also in that valley unfortunately sort of fell off the acronym, which technically should be VRAEM).
The cultivation of this special cacao also encourages the farmers of the region away from the problematic coca crops of the past.
The Cooperative “Qori Warmi” means “Women are worth gold” in Quechua; women are a big part of these new farming initiatives. These beans are sweet in more ways than one!

It is the smoothest, sweetest, most delightful 70% bar I think I’ve ever had. This one gave me goosebumps when I sampled it, and it was an instant decision to buy it! If you see one, do whatever you can (ethically 😆) to get your hands on it!
