Our backyard passion fruit plant is blooming like gangbusters, reminding me of this Filipino flavors truffle set I got from Xocolate Bar & Confections- both their Oakland locations carry these house-made truffles.
Fun fact: the US celebrates Filipino Heritage Month in October, but it’s celebrated in the Philippines itself in May!
Overall these truffles are pretty well done with fairly thin shells (a big measure of care & skill when making them). Here are the four flavors:
Purple 🟣- Ube: just a bit too sweet for me, would love a little more concentration of ube earthiness to counteract the sweetness.
Heart ❤️- passion fruit: nice sharp filling! Good soft texture, well balanced. My second favorite of the set.
Mandala flower 🪷- tamarind: really punchy, mouthwatering. Mostly tamarind over mango, but not imbalanced. This was my favorite!
Butterfly 🦋-Biko: also a bit too sweet for me, but great flavors. Good choice to have it in dark chocolate. The coconut and rice flavors go so well together with the caramel. People who like sweet will love this!
@xocolateandconfections makes truffle sets in a variety of flavors. I really want to try their tea-flavored set: it could be a great addition to a Mother’s Day celebration!
