COMPARISON: Fossa vs. Fu Wan Lychee Rose

I’m trying to really pare down (read: EAT) my chocolate collection in preparation for NW Chocolate Festival in a few months. My bookshelf is already so full- gotta make room!
.
I was eyeing @fossachocolate ‘s delightful Lychee Rose bar on my shelf for a nibble when I realized that I also have another Lychee Rose bar from @fuwanchocolate as well, from last festival! Why not do a side by side comparison?!
.
Both bars are Dark Milks, Fossa’s in 52% milk chocolate and Fu Wan in 56%.
.
Fossa has a symphony of inclusions: Dried lychee, cacao nibs and dried tea leaves & rose petals. The chocolate is so dreamy-creamy, like a childhood nostalgia of indulgent milk chocolate, but without being too sweet. By itself the chocolate has oh-so-faint hints of green and fruity notes. The creamy texture combined with the vivacious textures of the inclusions (soft, chewy, crunchy) makes for a sensuous chocolate experience.
.
The Fu Wan bar has no inclusions- it is smooth and delicate throughout. It melts quickly in the fingertips. In the mouth, the notes develop slowly, each taking turns to whisper to you. At first, there is just creamy milk tea, with the slightly roasty/earthy tea taste of the oolong. Just as I am beginning to wonder, the fresh melon-like taste of lychee appears and sings its song. It fades into a gentle hint of rose, still backed the creamy milk tea notes. Despite being the slightly darker chocolate it has sweeter quality on the finish.
.
Both are excellent takes on the lychee-rose-tea combination; Fossa’s is bold and playful, while Fu Wan’s is delicate and graceful.
