Guatemala (Antigua) 70% Dark by Choco Museo


For this week’s #tttt_s bar (I’m lucky Thursday also starts with T!) I’m choosing something unexpected, for a bar with surprising flavor! Savory and smokey- that’s what this inconspicuous bar from Guatemala brings in spades.

A friend brought this back to me from his travels in Guatemala- picked up at the @chocomuseoguatemala store at their Antigua location. Choco Museo has four locations (Mexico, Guatemala, Peru & Nicaragua) where they grow and produce cacao, holding workshops and tours for those curious about the chocolate proccess.

The bar is simply 70% dark- no added ingredients- and its tasting journey is a FORCE- incredible smokey notes dance with a prominent coffee taste in the foreground. This bar evokes richly smoked coffee-rubbed BBQ meat. The entire tasting experience is more savory than sweet. A lot of personality in a little wrapper!
