“Taste” with me this final experience of @theochocolate confections from their factory store kitchen in Seattle. When their sale to a larger conglomerate was announced in 2023 the unique factory store and confection kitchen was promised to remain- we see how well that lasted.
Here’s a sample of my truffles, including some limited edition spring flavors. In the past I’d always been really happy with their truffles, especially with their unique concoctions like Walla Walla onion caramel (SO good)!
I was a bit disappointed by these. Perhaps consistency and quality became more difficult to ensure at the end, especially if it was not a high priority from a corporate perspective. Sad, but not that surprising.
🌰 Gianduja- lovely textural experience with a great crunch! The flavor could be a bit nuttier.
🌸 Cherry blossom- a flavor zero: can’t taste any floral flavor, just the chocolate. A tiny bit of bitterness but overall not bad.
🍐 Pear balsamic- A lovely textural pairing of ganache with pâté de fruit. But, the pear is very faint, and no balsamic flavor at all. Another disappointment.
🩷 White chocolate Raspberry honeycomb heart- great flavor! You can actually really taste the honeycomb, and it has a nice balance with raspberry.
🍒 Cherry caramel- Great toothsome caramel, perfect amount of chew, gentle cherry flavor.
These were hit and miss, which is a dip in quality compared to my past tasting experiences with these. I guess it doesn’t matter as there won’t be any more. 🤷♀️😔
