Luisa Abram Rio Jururá 70% Dark
This rare and genetically unique cacao features prominently in @unrealrowanjacobsen new book Wild Chocolate.
Having enjoyed @luisaabram ‘s Juruá River chocolate as one of my favorite chocolate bars for the past few years, it was a delight to savor it anew while reading its extraordinary origin story! I highly recommend it! (Both the book and the chocolate).
This is the same chocolate that she partnered with Caputos to release as a striking red packaged bar focused on highlighting and saving wild cacao. The awards on the top of the package speak for themselves; you know you’re in something good!
The nose is distinctively floral and delightful.
Upon tasting this chocolate your palate is positively perfumed with flowers. Luisa mentions “(orchids) in the guise of chocolate”. I think of jasmine. Gentle tart hints of lychee and lime float in the background.
It’s also thanks to @mcaputo801 and @caputosmarket that we have Juruá chocolate today! If he hadn’t been willing to take the financial risk to support the Amazonian ribeirinhos and Luisa Abram during covid (and 2 years of intense river flooding), then this incredible cacao preservation wouldn’t have survived. Enjoying this delightful perfumed chocolate today is a gift and represents so much dedication, hard work and faith. Thank you Matt & Luisa!
