My treats from @seleuss Chocolates this weekend! I don’t drink so I didn’t pick up any of the alcohol infused truffles, though I did try a sample of the Irish Cream ganache which had a good strong boozy flavor (with some bite!). I am however, very partial to floral and fruity flavors, so you better believe I picked up this assortment!
1. Rosa Katopodis- rose ganache made with Greek Rose petals. This is very nicely balanced: The rose is strong enough to taste (it’s lovely; more complex than just tasting like rosewater) but doesn’t approach overpowering or soapy at all.
2. Orange Blossom Special (+Mint)- this is orange blossom honey ganache enrobed in mint flavored dark chocolate. When I tried the sample of this ganache the delicate florals of the orange blossom were perfect. Eaten as entire truffle, the mint is the dominant flavor- the floral notes in the ganache play a supporting role to give a lovely an overall complex minty taste.
3. Guava & Passion Fruit: one of each flavor in the box! I feel these ganaches need a bit more of a punch, it was difficult to taste the passion fruit. I do love that the ganache is made with white chocolate, and it’s the perfect creamy (almost gooey) texture!
4. Ida’s Raspberries & Cream (Rubus Idaeus)- a classic combination but enhanced with Ruby chocolate and a splash of Kirsch. Again perfect ganache texture, but I wouldn’t mind the flavor turned up a notch or two.
Overall I’m a fan! The service at Seleuss is lovely, and if you do enjoy fine spirits they have gorgeous infusions and even suggested pairings for the floral truffles!
