Excited to pick up some @stonegrindzchocolate for the first time last week at @delaurentifoodandwine ! I’ve heard great things about this brand but haven’t come across it yet in my chocolate adventures.
.
I tried two bars for comparison: their Wild Bolivia and Ucayali River, Peru (both 70% dark).
Wild Bolivia: Clean nutty opening, like unroasted peanuts or Brazil nuts. There is a bit of a natural sweetness- no hint of bitterness. I can see how they list tasting notes of brown sugar & cinnamon! The middle brings mellow fruity notes of banana with sight pleasant tartness and a general elusive fruitiness on the finish.
Overall lovely.
.
Ucayali River: I can see why this is their most popular single origin bar! It opens with an incredible natural sweetness, along with strong floral notes- so pleasant! I don’t get the Cedar notes listed on the package, rather the opening morphs into a clean freshness, reminiscent of lychee notes- mouthwatering! Hints of mocha and nuttiness wrap it up on the finish.
.
I’m very impressed by Stonegrindz and definitely plan to explore more of their bars!
.
Plus, how adorable are their molds with little llamas on each square? 😁🦙
