Let me tell you about these single origin bars from @20.20chocolates that I got at Chocolate Festival: they have a lot of character and that’s what I love in single origin bar!
.
I bought their Yaracuy 74% dark, which I believe is made with beans they grow themselves, as well as their lovely Piaroa 72% dark which is made with wild harvested beans.
.
Fun fact: The hole in the mould of the bar represents Earth, and their brand name refers to the “Cacao belt” Of growing regions 20 degrees north and south of the equator.
.
Yaracuy: Nose of smokey tannins and raisins. The star flavors are smokey and woody notes, that start off with just a bit of pleasant tartness and no bitterness. The finish brings fudgy notes intermingled with hushed red fruits.
.
Nose of floral notes that gives a clear window into what you’re about to taste! This bar features strong floral notes on the tongue, especially Jasmine! There’s a mild lactic sourness that permeates but fades away for a pleasant sweet hit on the finish.
.
I’m really enjoying the distinctive character of these bars, and I hope to try more from them- maybe at next year’s chocolate festival? 😉🍫
